What are you doing? I thought. This doesn’t mean anything. You’re still going home alone and waking up alone and the day after that, you will still be alone. Kissing him didn’t change anything. It didn’t resolve. I was just a stand-in anyway, a substitute for the person he really wanted. And he was the same for me. We’re just understudies, those people who take up...

There are five stages of grief:
1. Denial 2. Anger 3. Bargaining 4. Depression 5. Acceptance I can’t tell if I’m on stage two or stage four.

I still can’t believe she’s gone. I keep thinking she’s waiting for me in her office with a cup of coffee.

My Nextdoor Neighbor, Haiku Part 2
My voice is shaking,
“Any V-Day Plans?” You say,
“Nope, I’ve got homework.”

Little Joys
Recently, I’ve felt extremely down and discouraged by life. It’s just seemed like one thing after another, until I didn’t know if I could take anymore.
For the past few weeks I have been asking God for guidance about several big issues, with seemingly no intervention or answers on His end. I became discouraged, wandering if my faith was too small.
Then I prayed with one of my...

Nextdoor Neighbor, A Haiku Series
I.
Slouchy hat and shades,
just five feet away, but a
thousand years apart.
II.
You’re reading Mockingjay,
Bus is cold, come here often?
Please sit next to me.
III.
“The hall smells like pot,”
you say, again, on the stairs.
I cherish each word.
IV.
I linger in the
laundry room; alas, you don’t
wash whites on Fridays.
I am not a fan of this; I am not a fan of how all of this is going at all.

Hey Tumblr,
Sorry for being off the map for the last few weeks. I’ve been swamped with school and my job and I’m still trying to figure out what the future looks like for this blog. Hang tight.

The Brontë sisters have a twisted view of men.
So I’m reading Wuthering Heights for the first time. Although the majority of the book is incredibly depressing, there are several beautiful moments, particularly this monologue of Catherine’s:
“It would degrade me to marry Heathcliff now; so he shall never know how I love him: and that, not because he’s handsome, Nelly, but because he’s more myself than I am....

"A Parable About the Church," by Donald Miller

I read this today and although it’s a little lengthly, I thought it was very accurate. We need to wake up.

10 Things About Yours Truly
I’ve been tagged, so here we go:
I spent a good part of my childhood in Europe.
I am afraid of bees.
I love cardigans - if I could have endless grey cardigans I would die happy.
I have a scar through my right eyebrow from when I cracked my head open at a dance recital at age 6. People often ask me if I’ve tried to pluck my eyebrow and messed up (seriously).
My favorite book is...

I have reached 100+ followers!
Thank you all so much for taking the time to check out my 365. I started this project with just a few people knowing about it on here, because I needed space to write about my days. Now, so many people have offered encouragement as I’m reaching the end of it. My 365 will be officially over on January 1st, but hang tight, I’ve got another photography project coming! Thanks again! :)

Here's Looking at You, Kid
“Do you?”
“Does it matter?” I take another sip of wine, inwardly wincing at the bitterness. I force my face to stay smooth, order myself not to gag - aren’t adults supposed to like wine? The glass in my hand makes me feel more mature than a bottle; I feel as if I’ve been finally entrusted with something delicate, as if I’ve been handed the keys to my...
